The Reward of Funerals
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Whoever attends a funeral until the prayer is offered has one qirat of reward, and whoever stays until the burial has two qirat of reward."
Someone asked: What are two qirat?
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Like two immense mountains."

The 4 Takbirat of Salat al-Janazah
The funeral prayer consists of 4 takbirat (Allahu Akbar). Here is what is recited after each one.
1st Takbir — Al-Fatiha
After the first Allahu Akbar, Surah Al-Fatiha is recited silently.
2nd Takbir — Prayer upon the Prophet
After the second takbir, the Abrahamic prayer (as-salat al-ibrahimiyya) is recited.
3rd Takbir — Supplication for the deceased
After the third takbir, one supplicates to Allah for the deceased: forgiveness, mercy, and entry to Paradise.
4th Takbir — Final greeting
After the fourth takbir, a brief supplication is made, then greetings are given to the right and left.
Important: Salat al-Janazah is a communal obligation (Fard Kifaya). If a sufficient group performs it, the obligation is lifted for others.
